AutoTranslate is designed to simplify your multilingual workflow. This article outlines our roadmap for ongoing improvements based on your feedback.
Table of Contents
Our Current Roadmap
While AutoTranslate already offers robust functionality with DeepL, OpenAI, and Amazon Translate integrations, we have plans to enhance it further. Some key areas that we are actively working on or investigating include:
Expanded Translatable Entities
- WooCommerce Products: More comprehensive support including Product Short Description, Attributes, Variations, Purchase Note, and Comments/Reviews.
- Custom Fields: Support for ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) and other custom meta keys.
- Media Library Meta Data: Translation for image titles, alt text, captions, and descriptions.
Additional Translation Providers
- Google Translate (including Gemini API)
- Microsoft Translator / Bing Translator
- IBM Translator
- Smartling
- Global support for async translation agencies (e.g. like our partner Eurotext)
Enhanced User Interface & Advanced Features
- Dashboard: A central dashboard to view pending, ongoing, and completed translations.
- Integration with Original Translation Language Module: Tighter integration for improved workflow.
- Page Builder Support: Investigation into enabling translation of content from page builders like Elementor and Beaver Builder.
- Convenience Features: Capabilities for translating the current post without requiring a pre-existing relationship.
- Glossary Support: More integrated glossary features within MultilingualPress where possible, to complement provider-side glossaries which already exist today.
- Batch Translation Enhancements: Improved UI/UX for translating existing content in bulk, including MLP CLI commands.
This list is not exhaustive and priorities may shift based on development progress and user feedback.
