Create Multilingual Websites with MultilingualPress and Advanced Custom Fields
Do you want more options for content creation on your multilingual website? Then, using MultilingualPress with the Plugin Advanced Custom Fields is the perfect solution for you! Create your own custom fields, manage their translations centrally in a user-friendly interface and take full control of your content.
What are Custom Fields?
When you create a post or page in the WordPress editor, there are two fundamental fields: the field for the headline and the field for the content. WordPress also offers the possibility to create custom fields that can be used to provide additional information for a post or page.
This so-called post metadata can serve several purposes. For example, you can add a custom field that shows a date in an announcement post for an event, a quote to embellish a page or a price to a product post. Once a custom field is created, it can be used for other posts and pages, too.
Unfortunately, the WordPress custom fields option is very basic and, to make it work, it is necessary to edit the respective theme file, too. So it is not the perfect solution for non-developers.
What are Advanced Custom Fields?
Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) is a WordPress Plugin that provides a user-friendly interface for creating customized content fields. These fields can be added to the WordPress editor for posts and pages, but also categories, users, comments, menus, widgets, taxonomies and options.
The advantages for users are obvious: there are more possibilities and the implementation is much easier as there’s no need of any code edits like with the WordPress custom fields option.
Is MultilingualPress 3 Compatible with Advanced Custom Fields?
Yes, MultilingualPress is compatible with the Plugin Advanced Custom Fields. And it is very beneficial to use both plugins together!
While Advanced Custom Fields enables you to create all the fields you need and also export them to other pages, MultilingualPress makes it possible to translate custom fields centrally across all your multisite network. To ease your work, we have implemented a user-friendly interface that enables you to translate custom fields of connected pages and posts directly in the WordPress editor.
